With Nearly 1 Million Followers, “Teacher Li” Is Doing Essential Work to Show the Reality of the Chinese People’s Lives Under the Rule of Xi Jinping and the CCP.
And this, at the risk of his life!
“Teacher Li is not your teacher.”
This surprising sentence at first glance is the name of the Twitter account of a former Chinese art teacher, who now lives in Italy.
Since the recent pro-democracy protests in China, which prompted the authorities to ease health restrictions, Teacher Li's account has become a must-read.
With over 900,000 followers on Twitter, Teacher Li is one of the most famous Chinese influencers now. Even though he lives abroad, he wishes to remain anonymous, to protect his family, and knows that he will not be able to return to his country.
What Li likes most of all is freedom. We understand why he chose to flee Xi Jinping's China …
From his computer, nearly 8,000 kilometers from his native China, he floods his Twitter account with messages, videos, and authentic photos that ingenious and courageous young Chinese send him bypassing censorship. Teacher Li broke through by posting simple documents in late November 2022, showing the reality and severity of the protests in China.
In the tweet below, Li posted, for example, a video he says was taken in the Haizhu district of Guangzhou in southern China, in which protesters throw glass bottles at police.
His Twitter account is a ticking time bomb that makes it harder than ever for the CCP to control everything. Li has become so threatening to the CCP that he has received death threats.
Right now, the topic is the wave of COVID in China. He posts videos of overflowing hospitals, lines of coffins in morgues, and exhausted medical staff.
For example, this nurse attacks the official experts: “Let them come to the hospitals to see,” screams the young woman at the end of her tether.
Teacher Li emphasizes how young Chinese people can connect with the world.
Revolution in Iran, revolts in Afghanistan: Teacher Li did not choose by chance this video showing Afghan female students expelled from universities by the Taliban, holding up white sheets, the symbol of censorship, as in China during pro-democracy demonstrations.
“My life has been turned upside down,” says Teacher Li. “But it's a worthwhile job.”
The work that Teacher Li is doing is dangerous, but it is essential. Above all, it shows the world the reality of Chinese people who want more individual freedom and can no longer stand the censorship of Xi Jinping and the CCP.
With the many challenges that await Xi Jinping in the months and years to come, the social contract that bound the CCP to the people may no longer be valid. Growth in China will no longer be sufficient to ensure this famous common prosperity, for which the people had to accept all the restrictions on freedom aimed solely at preserving the interests of the party.
The situation could well worsen and social tensions could rise again at any time in 2023. Accounts like Teacher Li's will shed more light on the reality of what is happening in China.
A reality that Xi Jinping and the CCP are trying to hide!
