Want to Do Better Than 99% of People? Overclock Your Brain to Turn It Into a Supercomputer.
You will maximize your chances of achieving great things in life.
Almost everyone has a computer these days. If you don't own a computer, at least you own a smartphone that allows you to read this article I wrote especially for you.
Have you ever wondered what can keep a computer or a smartphone up to date and on top of its game for years to come, in a world where everything changes so fast?
After all, today's technology could already be obsolete in 6 months at the rate things are going. But there is a way to keep your computer performing at its best for much longer than its projected obsolescence date.
There are no miracles, but there are good practices to follow. If it were easy, everyone would do it. But since very few people do it, computer and smartphone manufacturers can more easily convince you that you should change your device every 24 months.
The prize in this field goes to Apple, which manages to sell some of its fan customers a new iPhone almost every year. Congratulations again to Tim Cook and his marketing teams!
It's a pity because the quality of the devices produced by Apple is so high that you might have to wait at least 5 years for each new one.
For that, you will have to focus on three points:
Update your computer's OS and the software you use as often as recommended by the vendors. Some people find this annoying, but it's an absolute necessity to stay on top of security as well.
Protect your device's battery. Follow good charging practices. Turn off your device every night as well.
Perform a deep clean of the system memory regularly.
If you follow these three axes, then you will win.
What's pretty amazing is that you will be able to overclock your brain into a supercomputer if you apply the same three-axis strategy to your life. It's obvious, but since no one bothers to do it there again, you'll be able to do better than 99% of the people you'll face.
Life is not always a competition, I grant you. However, starting with such an advantage will make a big difference in the long run. As always, for good practices to bear fruit, you will have to apply them day after day over time. This means making them habits that you will integrate into your good practice routine.
Upgrade your brain
The world is changing. To stay current, just like a computer, you will have to update your brain regularly. The expression may make you smile, but that is exactly what you will do when you try to increase your knowledge by 1% every day.
To do this, you'll need to read books or newspapers. You will be able to listen to podcasts or watch videos that allow you to acquire new skills and knowledge. Also, don't hesitate to take courses and have as many new experiences as possible that take you out of your comfort zone.
Anything that helps you improve is worth taking in life. It's not easy to have this philosophy, but that's why it will put you in the 1%. The famous club of those who end up succeeding. The reason I say “end up succeeding” is because the members of this club know that they will have to fail more times than the other 99% can handle to finally succeed.
Protect your battery
Just as you need to turn off your computer every night to extend its life, you need to “turn off” your brain every night. In the context of your brain, this comes down to prioritizing your sleep. Get at least 7 hours of sleep a night, with an emphasis on going to bed early.
If the stress during the day is too high and prevents you from sleeping well at night, go and enjoy nature by walking or running. Sport is your best friend to last. The one who lasts is the one who takes care of his health. This means eating a balanced diet as well.
Limiting your exposure time to digital devices is a good thing. Remember that life is a marathon, not a sprint. There is no need always to do more even if it means burning out your wings too quickly!
Clean up your memory
To perform at your best for as long as possible, you will need to preserve your mind as well as your body. Meditation should allow you to do this. Many people question the value of meditation. My advice is always the same: try this practice for 10 minutes a day for a month. You will see that you will not be able to do without it.
Why not keep a journal of your actions to be accomplished the next day that you will prepare the night before so as not to clutter your mind in the evening before going to bed? It is better to go to sleep with a clear mind to recover well. This will also allow you to better measure what you have accomplished each day.
Finally, don't hesitate to follow the approach mentioned by Napoleon Hill in his book “Think and Grow Rich” by talking positively to yourself every morning in front of the mirror. It may seem trivial, but you'll find that encouraging yourself every day by reminding yourself of what you want will help persuade you that you can do it.
And if you are convinced that you can do it, then you are already halfway to being in the top 1% of achievers.
Good thoughts. This stuff is kind of common sense, but it's amazing how few people implement it and understand the importance of it.
