The Secret of Success Is Not To Be Extraordinary, but Rather To Repeat Ordinary Things
Everything starts with a choice you have to make.
I would like to achieve great things, but I am just an ordinary person after all. How can I achieve great things if I am an ordinary person?
I am sure you have asked yourself this question at least once in your life. Everyone asks it at one time or another. We all see people achieve things that make us want to, but we don't feel like we can do the same.
Yet, if you take a step back, you will see that there are not many extraordinary people in history.
Most extraordinary successes are achieved by ordinary people
There are many more people who were initially ordinary, like you and me, who have achieved extraordinary success. Their secret lies elsewhere since these people were no more spoiled by nature than others to achieve these things.
As Elon Musk once said, everything starts with a choice:
“I think it is possible for ordinary people to choose to be extraordinary.”
You must choose to achieve extraordinary success.
Once you have made this choice, you must keep in mind that things will not be easy, but that is what will make them so much more enjoyable. If the path to the extraordinary was easy, why take it? That's my opinion anyway.
Extraordinary success is achieved by doing the same things day after day for years
I love to hike in the mountains and I especially like the difficult hikes. Once you reach the top, the sense of accomplishment is even greater.
Ordinary people understand one essential thing: success comes from repeating the basics over and over again.
Take the example of a professional athlete like Michael Jordan. The greatest basketball player of all time had great intrinsic talent, no doubt about it. However, many other players in history have been more spoiled by nature. Yet, it was Michael Jordan who won 6 NBA titles and was voted MVP of the NBA Finals each time.
Why?
Michael Jordan understood that to achieve extraordinary things he had to repeat the basics over and over again. So he practiced for years much more than others, repeating the same moves every day. He was the first one in the gym to shoot and the last one to leave to shoot again and again.
By repeating the same moves for more than 20 years, Michael Jordan was able to achieve a success that now seems extraordinary to all the other players who dream of imitating him
Michael Jordan did not invent new things, but he chose to master to perfection everything that already existed.
It all starts with a choice you have to make
That choice is the one you must make. Whatever your field, you must look for what already works. Then, you must concentrate fully on mastering those fundamentals. Repeat your scales over and over again. It will take years, but with this technique, you will sooner or later achieve the great success you aspire to.
Once you have achieved success, you too will probably appear to be extraordinary.
Nevertheless, you will know deep down that you were just an ordinary person who chose to achieve the extraordinary. Your success will be all the more deserving, and the sense of accomplishment you will feel will be all the greater.
