Donald Trump has sensed the change in Corporate America's attitude toward him. Here's what he said recently: “During my first term, everybody fought me. Now, everyone wants to be my friend”. Trump is right to boast, for the days when he was considered a pest by “Corporate America” seem long gone. The parade of CEOs at his Mar-a-Lago villa between the announcement of the election results and his inauguration on January 20, 2025, bears witness to this. American economic decision-makers now only have eyes for the new American president.
Like their Republican counterparts, they seem to have forgotten about Capitol Hill at the start of 2020 and rallied behind the insurgent president. Under duress, but also, increasingly, out of conviction. And that's something new!
