Writing is a real passion for me. Since I was young, I have always loved to write. I remember that I spent some time writing about sports when I was about ten years old.
Apart from my parents, no one read my articles at the time because the Internet was still in its infancy, but I didn’t care. I had this need to write, and I felt good after seeing what I had inside me put down on paper.
I'm passionate about computers, and I studied in this field at university. I then managed to combine my two passions by writing articles on computer science.
Little by little, I turned to personal development, and I felt the need to share my opinions with others through articles I published online.
I feel that every time I get passionate about a subject, I then need to write in order to share with others my impressions on the subject in question.
In fact, I write a lot. The number of readers is not something that pushes me to continue or stop. I never choose my subjects according to the potential target audience.
If just one person comes to read one of my stories and finds it interesting in some way, I already feel that what I share matters and makes a real difference.
I write simply because it is a deep inner need that has always been in me.
In high school, I took philosophy classes, and I still remember discovering a text by the French philosopher René Descartes called "Discourse on the Method".
In this text, Descartes uses a Latin phrase that struck me at the time:
“Cogito ergo sum”
— Descartes
In English, this translates into: “I think, therefore I am.”
Just thinking proves that you are what you are according to the philosopher Descartes.
When I think about my love for writing, I finally feel something quite close. Writing on a daily basis and sharing with others how I feel about different subjects makes me who I am.
From time to time, some people ask me how I manage to write so many words day after day.
I simply tell them that I don’t count the number of words I write. Writing is something completely natural to me. The reason for this is quite simple and brings me back to what Descartes said.
This inner need to write and to share with others can be expressed with this simple phrase:
“Scribo Ergo Sum”
In English, this translates into: “I write, therefore I am.”
I think I’m not the only one, and that’s how every writer who publishes on Medium or elsewhere feels. Writing is a vital need that we fill on a daily basis by writing what we have to share with the world.
