Losing Does Not Make Donald Trump a Loser, Refusing to Concede His Defeat Yes
Donald Trump is unable to admit defeat.
The psychology of Donald Trump has been a hot topic for several years. It must be said that President Trump is unlike any previous president of the United States. His totally different style has therefore been questioned for the past four years.
One of Donald Trump’s psychological traits is his unfortunate tendency to take shortcuts and cut things short. For Donald Trump, the world is either black or white.
Donald Trump is horrified at the thought of joining the camp of losers
Donald Trump doesn’t seem to know the nuance. Yet the world is predominantly gray. Nothing is ever all black or all white in life. This bad habit of refusing to see the complexity of the world we live in leads Donald Trump to divide the world into two categories: winners and losers.
Donald Trump is obviously one of the winners. He is horrified by defeat, as his niece Mary Trump wrote in her book “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man”.
Once you have integrated this parameter, you can understand more easily why Donald Trump has been in total denial since November 7, 2020. It is indeed that day that most of the American media announced Joe Biden’s victory in the American presidential election of 2020.
Donald Trump then immediately locked himself into the posture he had been preparing for months: that of a grand conspiracy theory based on massive fraud aimed at stealing his victory. Worse, this great conspiracy, which he obviously could not prove, was also stealing victory from his supporters.
Joe Biden’s victory is a reality
Throughout the past week, Donald Trump and his camp have therefore multiplied legal recourses. None of them were successful, because the 2020 presidential election was conducted honestly, whether Donald Trump likes it or not. Recounts in the swing states only confirmed Joe Biden’s large victory.
Joe Biden reached 306 electors against 232 for Donald Trump. When Donald Trump had reached this score of 306 electors in 2016 against Hillary Clinton, he then spoke of a “landslide”.
You know very well that Donald Trump is always in excess.
Joe Biden, on the other hand, has avoided any triumphalism, because he knows that he will need the Republicans if he wants to carry out his project to unite and heal America. He must play modest if he wants to unify, for the Senate will probably remain Republican.
Donald Trump is considering the idea that he will no longer be president in the coming months
On Friday, November 13, 2020, Donald Trump held a conference in the gardens of the White House to talk about the progress of Operation Warp Speed. Donald Trump spoke about the upcoming arrival of a coronavirus vaccine and highlighted the tremendous work done by his administration.
Throughout his speech, Donald Trump used many approximations and lies, especially when he said that the United States had the lowest case fatality rate of coronavirus in the world.
No wonder he spent the last four years lying and misinforming whenever he could to serve his own interests.
After politicizing the coronavirus vaccine by explaining that New York State could not benefit from it because of Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo, Donald Trump finally admitted in half words that he might not be President of the United States in the coming months:
“The national curfew costs 50 billion per day. This administration will not do containment. Whatever happens in the future, I don’t know who will govern the country tomorrow — time will tell — but I can tell you that, as long as I am in power, there will be no containment, it will not be necessary. It is something that costs lives. The cure cannot be worse than the disease”
Donald Trump explained that he did not know who would govern the country tomorrow.
All the media thought Donald Trump was starting to accept defeat
This simple sentence ignited the media, which immediately saw it as the beginning of an admission of defeat by President Donald Trump.
The next day, however, Mike Pence, the Vice President of the United States, came to calm the media by explaining during a meeting that the plan was to continue for another four years with this Trump administration.
These words came in addition to those of Mike Pompeo, the Secretary of State of the United States, who had said at an official conference last week that the Trump administration was working on a peaceful handover of power for a second term of Donald Trump.
As you can see, Trump’s closest collaborators fully support him in his denial of defeat.
On Sunday, November 15, 2020, all it took was a tweet from Donald Trump for everyone to think that Donald Trump was giving in and setting the stage for admission of defeat:
Donald Trump’s tweet began with two words that everyone has been waiting for since November 7, 2020:
“He won”.
Unfortunately, Donald Trump didn’t stop there :
“He won because the Election was Rigged.”
This is not what I call accepting his defeat personally. If you have explained that your opponent won because the election was rigged, you are just making excuses again.
The idea of defeat makes Donald Trump angry again and unmanageable on Twitter
Nevertheless, the media immediately made headlines by bouncing on this tweet. It really pissed off Donald Trump who then went wild on Twitter throughout Sunday, November 15, 2020, with some of the most incredible tweets:
All Donald Trump’s tweets on Twitter are now rightly marked as “disputed”.
He went on to explain that Joe Biden’s victory was only real in the eyes of what he calls “FAKE NEWS MEDIA”:
Donald Trump does not want to concede anything, and he intends to continue the fight to demonstrate that this election was rigged. He will not succeed, because this election was fair.
Donald Trump ended his weekend with a tweet proclaiming his victory in the 2020 presidential election:
The moral of this story is that it is better to avoid getting Donald Trump angry, otherwise, he will get unmanageable and multiply the tweets, each one more dangerous than the other.
Losing doesn’t make you a loser as Donald Trump thinks
I read everywhere that Donald Trump is a loser because of his defeat to Joe Biden. Actually, I don’t agree with that at all. Donald Trump’s defeat of Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election does not make him a loser.
Losing doesn’t make you a loser in life the way Donald Trump thinks.
Defeat and failure can be great opportunities to improve yourself. But to do so, you must first accept your defeat without concession. You must concede defeat, and only then can you be able to take advantage of it by learning from your defeat.
Those who are not able to do this will never progress in life because they will remain bad losers.
The way you react to defeat can make you a real loser
In 2008, after his large defeat at the hands of Barack Obama, John McCain quickly conceded his defeat with a concession speech full of class and dignity. That speech went down in history, and this passage is particularly strong:
“Sen. Obama and I have had and argued our differences, and he has prevailed. No doubt many of those differences remain. These are difficult times for our country, and I pledge to him tonight to do all in my power to help him lead us through the many challenges we face.
I urge all Americans who supported me to join me in not just congratulating him, but offering our next president our goodwill and earnest effort to find ways to come together, to find the necessary compromises, to bridge our differences and help restore our prosperity, defend our security in a dangerous world, and leave our children and grandchildren a stronger, better country than we inherited.”
Despite his differences of opinion with Barack Obama, John McCain wished him all the best because he loved his country. John McCain wanted Barack Obama to succeed for the United States to succeed.
This concession speech had grown John McCain in the eyes of all. However, John McCain had lost the election. But he had won respect by showing that a few strong words could still unite Americans.
Donald Trump is mentally incapable of doing that.
Conclusion
By still refusing to concede defeat more than a week after the announcement of Joe Biden’s victory, by constantly repeating that the election was rigged without any proof, by proclaiming himself the winner of the election, by delaying the transition process with the Biden administration while the United States is facing a second wave of coronavirus, Donald Trump proved that he is a real loser.
More than defeat, it’s how you react to it that will make you a loser or a winner. Donald Trump made his choice a long time ago, and for that reason, you can consider him a real loser.
