Having Trouble Staying Motivated Over Time? Here Are 3 Simple Tips To Apply
No one can stop you from achieving your goals if you do this.
“It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.”
– Babe Ruth
Motivation is the key to success in life. As New York Yankees legend Babe Ruth once said, it is very hard to beat a person who never gives up.
A person who never gives up is a highly motivated person who keeps moving forward in pursuit of their goals no matter what. Whether you fail or succeed, it is ultimately just a temporary outcome that you will need to rely on to keep you going without losing your enthusiasm.
You probably recognize this as a quote from Winston Churchill.
Your primary goal in life should be to keep your motivation level high. No matter what happens to you, you must stay motivated. Once I've established this basic truth, which you can only agree with, you'll say:
How can I stay motivated over time no matter what?
Well, I'm going to give you 3 simple tips to implement in your daily life. If you apply these tips, you will see that you will be able to stay motivated over time. By maintaining this level of motivation, you will have already taken a big step towards achieving your goals.
1. Create a positive environment around you
Being successful is a difficult thing in life. To maximize your chances, you must create a positive environment around you. Create a routine that will keep you physically healthy every day, which will have a positive impact on your mental health later on.
Make sure you find the right work-life balance to go the distance. Success is a marathon, not a sprint.
Working harder every day to achieve success faster is not a good strategy. You will end up burning out and not reaching your goal. Look on the positive side no matter what.
In every situation, there are always two ways to interpret things: positively or negatively. This is a choice you have to make. It is in your best interest to choose a positive way to stay motivated over time.
2. Celebrate each of your victories no matter how big or small
Some people are so focused on achieving big goals that they think there is no need to celebrate their small victories along the way. This is a mistake!
There is nothing worse than working day after day toward a goal that will take years to achieve without ever taking the time to appreciate the intermediate steps. Those who do this often end up unmotivated, feeling like they'll never get to the top of their mountain.
My advice is simple: define intermediate steps.
When you reach an intermediate milestone, celebrate your victory. No matter how big or small, it is a victory. Taking a moment to celebrate will have more positive effects on achieving your longer-term goal than you can imagine.
It will lose you stay motivated along the way to success, as it can be a very long road. That's what makes success so palatable.
3. Surround yourself with motivated people who share the same desire to succeed as you
American entrepreneur John Rohn once said:
“You’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with it.”
This empirical observation is generally true. There is no scientific evidence to back up his observation, but you will notice that those who are surrounded by negative and unmotivated people eventually fall into the same pattern.
It is indeed extremely difficult to be motivated over time if you have people around you who only see the negative side of every situation and who constantly discourage you.
You must therefore surround yourself with people who share the same desire to succeed as you do. With several people, you will be able to accelerate the success of each one of you by motivating each other. It's up to you to surround yourself with the right people and to be a driving force.
Final Thoughts
Nothing can stop a truly motivated person who is willing to never give up no matter what. To achieve this level of motivation, I recommend that you rely on the 3 practices I just detailed.
A positive environment with motivated people like you will remind you that while there are ups and downs on the road to success, you should never consider a situation as final. Simply learn from it, adapt and keep moving forward.
That's how you'll succeed in life.
