Get Rid of These 5 Feelings Immediately To Realize Your Full Potential in Life.
You must learn to use these feelings to your advantage.
The feeling is the component of the emotion that implies the cognitive functions of the body, the way of appreciating. It is at the origin of immediate knowledge or a simple impression. It is such a strong element in the ways of thinking, that it appears dominant in certain reasonings.
Your feelings can therefore be your best ally or your worst enemy. Everything will depend on the way you use them. Your interest is obviously to use your feelings to your advantage. But you must be able to recognize your feelings, accept them, and then use them.
My goal in what follows is to highlight five essential feelings that you may be experiencing in your life that could jeopardize your progress in life. To reach your full potential, you must learn to get rid of them. Getting rid of them doesn't mean not feeling them, because that's impossible, but transforming them into something positive for your life.
Ego
“You’re not as good as you think. You don’t have it all figured out. Stay focused. Do better.”
— Ryan Holiday
As you progress in a field, you will naturally gain confidence to the point where you will one day feel much stronger than you are. Your ego will take over, and you may well feel superior to others.
You will fall into the worst trap that ego can trap you in. You will be in a position to learn from others. Believing yourself to be so superior to others, you will consider that listening to what others have to say is a waste of time.
To progress in your life daily, you must adopt the posture of the eternal student always looking for what the master has to teach him. This is the only way to learn new things every day. By adopting this approach, your ego will no longer be an obstacle, and most importantly, you will see that you can learn useful things from anyone.
The real expert is the one who understands this.
Envy
“Envy is an insult to oneself.”
— Yevgeny Yevtushenko
Some people are jealous of the success of others and spend a lot of time comparing themselves to others. By doing this, you fall into the trap of jealousy. You will insult yourself, but worse, you will slow down your progress. The time wasted to envy others would be better spent working on yourself to do better, and go further.
This is why you must understand that the only opponent worth fighting in life is yourself. Striving to become a better version of yourself every day should be your only goal in life.
Anger
“He who angers you conquers you.”
— Elizabeth Kenny
Anger is the worst feeling because it clouds your view of things. Anger will also cause you to act foolishly. The biggest mistakes are made out of anger in life.
You must therefore learn to control your emotions so that you can turn your anger into something positive. This is easier said than done, but that's why your reward will be so great if you can master your anger.
When faced with situations that usually cause you to lose control, you will be able to accept what is happening to you, while making decisions that will allow you to benefit from it.
Ignorance
“Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.”
— Confucius
I used to say that in life, it is your ignorance that costs you the most money. So your goal should be to be aware of your ignorance so that you know where your current knowledge ends. Then you can seek to expand your knowledge so that you can reduce your ignorance.
The more you reduce your ignorance, the greater your chances of making good decisions. This is obviously what drives Warren Buffett to read up to 500 pages every day for several decades. This has allowed him to minimize his ignorance and make better decisions throughout his investment career.
Fear
“Thinking will not overcome fear but action will.”
— W. Clement Stone
Fear is a feeling that our ancestors felt. This feeling triggered a signal in their brain that it was time to act. They had to act to save their lives in the face of danger. Wasting time thinking too long could have cost them their lives.
It would not have changed their situation. Taking action was what allowed them to overcome this fear and reach a safer situation.
Today, the dangers are not the same, and most people will become paralyzed and not act when they feel fear. This is a bad habit that you need to get rid of. You need to change your paradigm in terms of how you think about fear.
Every time you feel fear, you must see it as a signal that it is time to act. This is the key to realizing your full potential in life.
Final Thoughts
Ego, Envy, Anger, Ignorance, and Fear are feelings you absolutely must get rid of to achieve your full potential in life. Getting rid of them does not mean ignoring them, because you will always feel these emotions. It means using them to your advantage so that they push you to do more and better in your life.
It all starts with a conscious choice that you must make as always.
