Don’t Look for More Money, Look for More Free Time.
Your priorities in life must be directed in the right direction.
As we enter our twenties, almost all of us have the same goal in life. We want to achieve our dreams and make as much money as possible. For some, it becomes an obsession. Their life becomes a frantic quest to earn more and more money.
After earning $1,000 with their business, these people will seek to earn $10,000. The next logical step is to try to reach $100,000.
Why stop there?
These people will continue to work harder and harder each day to try to get closer to the million dollars. The famous number that makes you dream because, for a long time, it was the frontier that made you rich in an official way.
Given the monetary inflation in which the current monetary and financial system has trapped us for the past 50 years, the frontier of wealth is probably now around 5 million dollars.
The goal will therefore become to reach that $5 million.
Everything is done to get more money. Some will get there in their 20s, some in their 30s. Others will take a little longer. Nevertheless, for all these people, a strange feeling will arise afterward.
That feeling is one of emptiness in their lives.
For most, those millions of dollars will be just the tip of the iceberg. Behind them will be a whole ecosystem they have built that will stand only on their shoulders. Thus, these people will be rich, but slaves of their business. It will be impossible for them to choose at any time to stop everything and take a vacation without risking their wealth.
This is the situation that many entrepreneurs face in their lives.
The real problem, in my opinion, is that these people have made the mistake of putting their lives at the service of their work to get more and more money. This is taking the problem the wrong way.
In life, you must above all seek to achieve contentment. To do this, you must be able to get as much free time as possible. Everything you do should be built around making your work working for your life. The money you earn must allow you to live your life on your own terms.
If not, you are not on the right path.
Final Thoughts
As you think about your personal situation and your life goals, ask yourself this question:
Am I working to get more free time to enjoy my life?
Unfortunately, a majority of people will answer this question in the negative. What's more damaging is that once you're successful with a system that is too dependent on you, you'll be stuck and won't be able to change your paradigm.
So it's right at the beginning of your journey that you need to make the quest for more free time your primary goal in life. Some people take longer than others to achieve this. I just hope that this article will help you open your eyes more quickly to what your priorities in life should be.
Great thoughts. Real wealth is when you have more free time to do what you want every day.
After 35 plus years, I could have saved my company so much money had they agreed to more paid time off in lieu of another 3% pay increase.
For 15 years I’ve asked for only another paid day off each year added to my 4 weeks paid. By now, I would have 35 days each year paid and they would have saved so much. But “we can’t do that” has always been the answer
