“Life always begins with one step outside of your comfort zone.”
— Shannon L. Alder
The comfort zone has always been an essential subject in the world of personal development and self-improvement. The comfort zone is a psychological state in which you will gradually settle down and feel protected.
The comfort zone is an attractive thing because it represents a familiar and safe state in which you feel comfortable and secure.
Once they’re in the comfort zone, many people never leave it. This is a great pity because nothing great can happen to you if you stay in the comfort zone.
Your comfort zone is a silent enemy that you must absolutely fight and I will explain why in the following.
Society Pushes You Into the Comfort Zone
Your life seems perfect. In fact, you were an excellent student in high school as recommended by your parents. Your parents were then proud of you when you went to study at a major university.
You had an excellent university degree that opened the doors to a large company.
This big company offered you a job from 9 am to 5 pm with a 6-figure salary.
As a recent graduate student with an important student loan debt, you couldn’t refuse this job offer.
You now work like everyone else and obey a routine called the Rat Race.
It doesn’t matter, because you tell yourself that you’ve bought yourself a nice house with a loan.
You have completed this beautiful house with a beautiful family car so that you can take your family of two beautiful children with you on travel.
You are a perfect example of what society expects from a young citizen.
Without realizing it, you are now a prisoner of your job because you have to pay back all your loans.
The Comfort Zone Is a Trap
You’re right in the comfort zone. You lead a quiet little life in which you feel safe because you are in control.
Without even realizing it, you have lost the little flame you had inside you in the past.
The more time goes by, the more you crave other things.
Your financially comfortable life no longer satisfies you.
Many people around you don’t understand why, but you can no longer get up every day for that well-paid job that you don’t actually like.
You’re searching for meaning in your life but you’re trapped in your comfort zone.
You’re afraid to step outside that comfort zone.
Beyond the comfort zone is a zone of fear that frightens you.
It’s been so many years since you’ve faced the unknown that you no longer feel capable of it.
Your Life Will Never Be Complete As Long as You Stay in the Comfort Zone
The problem is that this comfort zone is now poisoning your life. The trap has closed in on you and you can’t get past it. Your life no longer satisfies you.
Money is important but happiness is priceless.
You earn money, maybe even a lot, but you don’t do the things that make you happy every day.
To be happy in life, you’re going to have to step outside your comfort zone and get past that zone of fear that scares you so much.
Behind this fear zone, is a learning zone that should allow you to finally find your purpose in life.
By daring to go beyond your comfort zone, you will give yourself a chance to find your purpose.
This search will take time but it is essential to your future happiness.
Getting Out of the Comfort Zone Takes Courage
As you learn new things, you will necessarily find the thing that makes you happy in life that you can use to earn a living.
You may not make as much money as you did in your old life, but you will get something that is priceless.
That priceless thing is simply happiness.
Working day after day in something that makes you happy will motivate you more than ever.
You will give meaning to your daily efforts and your life.
Once you find that thing, you’re going to have to be incredibly brave to defeat this enemy that is the comfort zone.
You’ll probably have to make some big adjustments in your life.
A lot of people don’t, but you’re going to make them because you’re determined to live a fulfilling life.
People Who Step Out of the Comfort Zone Never Regret It
Life isn’t just about money. A lot of people think the ultimate goal is to make more money. In reality, sooner or later you will understand that the ultimate goal of life is to find happiness.
Finding what makes you happy in life involves fighting your comfort zone to get out of it.
The sooner you understand that the comfort zone is not an end in itself, the sooner you will be able to ask yourself the right questions to get out of it and find your way to the growth zone.
The growth zone is the one you should aim for and that will allow you to dare to be yourself in life without fear of the gaze and judgment of others.
People who step out of the comfort zone to reach this growth zone never regret it.
To lead a fulfilled and happy life, you need to stay tuned in to how you feel throughout your life, and never hesitate to change to do what you really want.
There is nothing frightening about novelty and change, but they are actually great opportunities that you must seize.
Your dreamed life will begin the day you dare to put one foot out of your comfort zone.
